SPOT THE DRUMMER

To reveal the rhythmatist, click on the face you suspect belongs to the tub-thumper. (And, no, it's not Chumbawamba.)

How to win a T-shirt:

• Tell us the name of the band. Or...
• Tell us which band member will quit the band, and why. Or...
• Tell us which band member will be fired, and why. Or...
• Tell us something we need to know about the photo.

Answer any or all of those questions to our satisfaction and a stylin' T-shirt is yours. E-mail your best guess to webmeister@washcp.com.

LAST WEEK'S MYSTERY BAND (Click link to refresh your memory.)

Yet again, the Man From the Future sees all, knows all:

"This week's band is none other than the Armagnac Review. Decatur, Nebraska's only working galante quartet since the High Snifters moved to Sioux City—though HS were confused, and improperly referred to themselves as 'rococo-style.' Perhaps they should have painted instead of made music. Regardless, Armagnac Review are arguably the midwest's brightest contrapuntal masters. There's no wrath squeezed from these grapes."

An elegant assessment. Thanks. Turns out, though, that the band was RIGHT STRIPPED, prog-rockers from Michigan. Hey, they're looking for a keyboard player!

Some classic-rock birthdays this week: Pink Floyd's Nick Mason and Mountain's Corky Laing add more bricks to the wall on Sunday, Jan. 28. The ever-present Phil Collins celebrates on Wednesday, Jan. 31. Representing the (slightly) younger set, Weezer's Pat Wilson turns 38 on Thursday, Feb. 1. And finally, the great Tonight Show drummer Ed Shaughnessy turns a spry 78 on Monday, Jan. 29. (Ed's pal Doc Severinsen's at the KenCen this Friday, too. Will Ed be there? I've got tickets...) CP
